Sandblasting machines use a variety of sands. Depending on the needs and characteristics of the workpiece material, the following common abrasive materials can be selected: **Garnet** Garnet is a red, wear-resistant abrasive material, mainly composed of aluminum oxide, with a Mohs hardness of about 8.0. It has high hardness and wear resistance, suitable for sandblasting rust removal, cutting, grinding and polishing. Garnet's special axial crystal structure allows it to form new particle sizes after crushing, enabling reuse. **Silica Sand** Silica sand is mainly composed of silicon dioxide and has high hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. It is suitable for removing heavy paint and rust, often used in sandblasting processing of ships, railway vehicles, buildings and stone. **Steel Grit and Steel Shot** Steel grit and steel shot are man-made metal abrasives with high hardness and strong impact force, especially suitable for deep cleaning and finishing of workpiece surfaces. **Glass Beads and Glass Grit** Glass grit is made from recycled glass, has moderate hardness and good gloss, suitable for decorative sandblasting. Glass beads are round and without sharp edges, often used for matte surface treatment of stainless steel products and mold cleaning. **Zirconia Sand** Zirconia sand is a high-temperature resistant abrasive material, suitable for workpieces with high surface quality requirements, especially in situations with strict precision and smoothness requirements. **Silicon Carbide** Silicon carbide is divided into natural and artificial types. It has a good crystal form and retains sharp edges after crushing, suitable for efficiently removing rust and dirt from the workpiece surface. It is often used for rust removal and polishing of metal surfaces of aircraft, ships, and automobiles. **Brown and White Fused Alumina** Alumina series abrasives have high hardness and strong grinding force. Brown fused alumina is often used to remove hardened coatings from materials such as stainless steel and alloy steel, while white fused alumina is used for polishing and deburring precision parts. **Iron Ore Sand** Iron ore sand is mainly composed of iron oxide, has high hardness and good toughness, and is often used in metal surface treatment in the steel and aerospace industries. **Copper Ore Sand** Copper ore sand is matte black or bright black in color and is often used in sandblasting operations of large equipment such as ship rust removal. It is suitable for use in open spaces. The selection of appropriate sandblasting abrasive materials requires consideration of factors such as the physical properties of the abrasive material, work requirements, workpiece material, and cost budget.

Boron carbide (B4C) sandblasting nozzles offer the longest lifespan compared to materials such as tungsten carbide, aluminum oxide, and iron. The wear resistance of boron carbide material is 5 to 10 times that of tungsten carbide and 3 to 5 times that of silicon carbide.
